cheeky vegan cheese puffs

These little cheese puffs are super easy to make, the whole process takes about 15 minutes from fridge to face! Pre-rolled puff pastry is a wonderful, labour saving fridge staple during the holiday season; enabling sweet and savoury treats to be whizzed out at a moments notice. Happily there are dairy-free and soya-free versions available, though I have not yet discovered a gluten-free puff-pastry so I cannot partake! 

Ingredients:

  • Pre-rolled puff pastry (I use Jus Roll as it’s dairy-free and soya-free),
  • olive oil,
  • black pepper, 
  • cheese alternative (we use organic amisa vegana – a dairy-free & soya-free one)

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200ºC (fan) & prep a baking tray with baking paper.

  2. Cut a rectangle of pastry (only prepare what you are going to eat) Onto the rectangle of pastry add a sprinkling of cheese alternative, a drizzle of olive oil & a grind of fresh black pepper. (see photo)

  3. Cut into strips about 4cm wide, then fold the strips lengthways down the middle. Pinch the edges together. Chop into cheeky cheese puff sizes.

  4. Pop on the baking tray and into the oven. They take about 10 minutes to cook, when you get them out chomp straight away!

Notes:

I also add a sprinkling of cayenne pepper to these sometimes for a little chilli kick!
