These little raw chocolate bites are truly scrummy! Packed full of wonderful raw ingredients they are a real treat for your bod, but taste delicious, rather indulgent and naughty! Before I get carried away let me explain the reason I use raw ingredients! They are generally are richer in nutrients than their baked/toasted/stewed/roasted equivalents. However if you don’t have raw ingredients, make them with what you have – they are still full of wonderful-for-you goodness, and a million miles better for you than a processed chocolate which is mostly fat & sugar!
I have been eating lots of the nákd raw bars of late which are not cheap! So decided I would have a go at making my own version of them. The thing which is wonderful about the nákd bars is that they have minimal ingredients and all of them are raw.
Sticking to their simple approach and noting that their main ingredient is often dates, I soaked some to get them soft and gooey. Once they had soaked for a while I drained them and bunged them in the magi-mix. Then I added some raw almond butter (a.k.a almond butter) we make our own with uncooked almonds – but you can buy raw almond btter too. If you prefer another nut btter use that! And of course the wonderful, über chocolatey raw cacao powder. Having tasted it I wanted to add a dash of vanilla – you can follow suit or ignore it. Like all my recipes I think you should take them and make them your own. We all have our preferences and our bodies respond differently to different foods. Mine loves almonds but not cashews! If yours likes cashews I think cashew btter would be delicious in these!
I decided to roll my little raw chocolate bites in chopped hazelnuts and they are YUM! I keep them in a sealed container in the fridge and they don’t last long!
