Hello! We are finally back on-line and hopefully have put an end to the very annoying disappearing act my blog kept being subjected to by wordpress. Even I couldn’t see it/find it/access it! Thanks to those of you who contacted me at various times to see what was going on and for your patience when you requested specific recipes.

 

We are going to move free2bake beyond wordpress’ reach in the coming week, which should prevent a reoccurrence of the magical invisibility cloak being thrown over it!

 

Most importantly we have great news regarding Aars, the oral steroids worked in reducing the presence of eosinophils in his oesophagus and stomach from the hundreds to a remarkable and delightful 0. So we have a management plan for the EoE and EG which is working! Such a relief and a blessing.

 

In other good news The Beast From The East pummelled the silver birch catkins this spring, so although it didn’t annihilate them (the Silver Birch Pollen season started on Saturday) for now it is looking liked it’s only going to be a moderate pollen count.

 

Last time I was able to blog it was winter – snow and icy, now it feels like we’ve leap-frogged over spring into summer! I hope that you enjoy some rays, and if you live near a river try and go wild garlic foraging whilst it’s still about! I am heading out with two pals on Friday for a forage and will be posting recipes next week featuring the yummy mild wild garlic flowers and leaves. (All folks near Dorking are welcome to join us! – Ingrid, Alex and I are meeting at 9:30 am on Friday morning by the Star – just bring water to drink, comfy walking shoes, and a paper bag to pop your foraged yumminess in.)

 

I wanted to check in because I could! It’s good to be back 😀 I really missed the blog whilst it was in hiding!  Below is a scrummy green juice recipe I made today to sup whilst I happily logged back into my beautiful blog. I have obviously been developing lots of yummy free-from recipes whilst unable to blog so I have a lot of catching up to do.

kale, cucumber, pineapple & ginger root juice

  • Yield:

    800ml

  • Prep Time:

    12 mins
kale, cucumber, pineapple & ginger root juice

A lovely mellow, refreshing green juice with a hint of the tropics thanks to the ginger root heat and pineapple.

Ingredients:

  • 4 huge handfuls of kale
  • 1 large cucumber
  • 1 small pineapple (or half a normal sized one) 
  • 1.5cm³ ginger root*

Method:

  1. Prep your ingredients by rinsing them all.

  2. Top, tail and skin the pineapple and the ginger root.  

  3. Cut the cucumber and pineapple into chunks that will work in your juicer.

  4. Juice the ginger root, then a chunk of pineapple, then a handful of kale, then a chunk of cucumber and repeat this process until everything is juiced.

  5. Clean your juicing equipment then enjoy your gorgeous fresh green juice.

Notes:

*if you want a little more fire in your juice add more ginger root. I however like the subtle hint of heat this amount of ginger provides.
